This always works for me and is yummy. The recipe used to be on the back of the marshmallow creme jar, but they changed it to a not-as-good one. Someone must have clued them in, because the new jars I have been buying have this one again, but missing the microwave instructions. My mother tracked down the microwave times, and we think that’s the easiest, best way to do this. Hope it’s foolproof for you too!
Melt (1 minute in the microwave) in a big pyrex bowl (4 quart): 3/4 cup butter
Add: 2/3 cup evaporated milk and 3 cups sugar
Microwave 3 minutes, stir well.
Microwave 2 minutes more, stir.
Microwave 3 minutes, stir.
Microwave 2 1/2 minutes, stir.
Add 2 cups chocolate chips and 7 oz. marshmallow creme and stir until smooth. Stir in 1 cup chopped nuts, if desired.
Pour into (8 inch) square baking pan lined with foil.
Variations: Can substitute another kind of chips (like peanut butter) for the chocolate. My mom and sister made a batch of chocolate in a 9 x 13 pan, then a second batch of peanut butter on top. Yum.
